Merry Vaals was placed twice this seaxnn, on tlie last occasion being beaten nniy i\y a head by Biddy Girl in tho Waipii Plate, six furlongs and a half. Hunter's Night was third over a similar dixtnnce iit Cambridge on Labour Day, while Hroii/i! Kinerald has been working well at Kilcixlio. Flying Eagle was third to To Kawili nnd Sunola at Paeroa, and First (ioM Mcmey lias been galloping well nt Tak.wiini. VVhenua has also been going along nicely 111 Kllcrslir, but it looks as though most of the money may go on Merry Vaiik r'lyinfi Kngle and Bronze Emerald. Hopalnne performed so well nt To Awamiitii mid Kllerslie recently that he will have plenty of support in the Maramarua Hurdleti. Koyal Abb has won a couple of events this season, and this class should suit him. Inquisitor and Dauber

have both been schooling well at Takanini, and they should foe in the picture. The former won at Te Rapa in the spring. Mai do Mcr lias shown promise over the batteni, arid probably the best backed may bo Inquisitor, Dauber, Hopalong. Maxam has shown winning form thie season, and after her .smart gallop at Takanini yesterday morning should not be without friends. Brazen Bold was placed at Te Awamutu and twice at Stratford in sprint races during the last fewweeks. Bachelor King was a winner at Whangarei, and has been in the money on several occasions this season. Corato is speedy, but has no recent form, while Tosh ran fairly well on the Taranaki circuit. Lornacre waa third in the Glasgow Handicap, seven furlongs, to Sunola and Mendow at Ellerslie on New Year's* Day, and the next day was fourth over a mile. I'oxmond and Miss Te Koura may be the pick of the remainder.. A trio that may linve most support is Maxam, Brazen Bold, Lornacre. Greek Queen, who is at the top of the Thames Hack Cup, was placed over a mile nt Ellerslie in November, while she was fourth over nine furlongs at Waipa. Racecamp lias been mmt consintent this season, and won easily over nine furlongs nt Stratford on New Year's Day. Town Section has shown good form over sprint dintancee, while Foxtoon has shown good form up to a mile this tteason, winning over the distance, while Clipper was successful over seven furlongs at Waipa. JUopata showed up in the Waitemata Handicap, one mile and a quarter, at Ellerslie. Hunting Bee was fourth in the Ellerslio Handicap, one mile, recently and may be the best of the others. Recent form points to Racecamp, Greek Queen and Foxtoon being the public fancies.

A uteful field ie engaged in the Goldfjelde Cup, the chief event of the day. King Rey, Nnmara, Pirate King, Sunola and To Hni have useful form over the holidays, and it looks as though the winner ahoukl come from these. Royal •my has been mott consistent and has won up to a mile, while Bonstar led for a Rood way in the A.R.C. Handicap, one rnile and a half. Sunola, Namara and Royal Tray may have most friends. Heroic Maid was a good two-year-old and recently ran third over five furlongs nt New Plymouth. She is now top weight in the Puriri Handicap. Biddy Girl was •urceasful in the Wnipa Plate, six furjntitrs and a half, at Te Awamtitu and has boon working well. Maneroo has shown promise, whilo Gold Money Song has been pallopinc well at Takanini. It ie not a strong field, and perhaps Biddy Girl, Heroic Maid nnd Gold Money Song majr iinil most favour.

Prince Rnngi won a seven-furlong higliweiffht event at Stratford on New Year's Dity and dend-hented with Tβ Hai in a similar pvont the next day. He will get «nnip support if started in the Borough Handicap, while Toeh, who has an earlier can go a good seven furlonge. Valdene was fppond over six furlongs and a half at Wnipii, and may prove the best of the flip™. Prince Rangi, Erlick and Tosh iiiiiv do beet.

I'lie progrnmme will conclude with the I'ipii TTandicap, and most money may "mno for Penssanee, Hunter's Hose and Orn King.
