King Carol's conception of Rumania s defensive line has been completed. It involves ditches and canals extending for hundreds of miles trora the north-west frontier to rstikowina, and thence via the Dniester to the Black Sea. The ditches, 40 feet wide, will link up with watercourses, so that they can he flooded in the event of aggression. Pill-l>oxes, where hills interrupt the dykes, protect this huge tank trap.
