IN FRONTIER DAYS.

STORY OF "DODGE CITY."

The lusty days of America's great Empire-building advance into her uncon]uerwl West, recaptured for some of the greatest cinema epics Hollywood has ever produced, come to life once more with i mazing credibility for Warner Brothers' 'Dodge City," which will be released ocnlly at the 1 gent Theatre To-morrow. Like "The Iron i T orse," "Cimarron," "The Conquerors," "Union Pacific" and innum;rable other memorable films of "the past, :his new production combines, with the itinost success so far as its entertainment falue is concerned, the elements of vivid melodrama, appealing romance and leavenng comedy. The film is remarkable for its faithful lepiction of some of America's wildest jays, which are even now within the personal recall of many veterans who are still iving. Those veterans include a number if the great sheriffs in those turbulent, awless '70's. who succeeded, by the sheer lower of their personalities and their ?.ipacity > for straight and quick shooting, n bringing, countless bad men to book or their crimes. Just such a character s portrayed by Errol Flynn, the star of 'Dodge City," who plays the role of Wade Hatton, a "trail boss" who has driven a tiuge herd of Texas longhorns up the Chisfiolm Trail, and then becomes sheriff of the wild and woolly city, which he pro;eeds with characteristic British thoroughness to "clean up." Romance comes to him unexpectedly and continues melodramatically. The whole picture promises to be excellent screen fare, particularly since it has been filmed entirely in techni:olour. Olivia de Havilland is Flynn's leading lady, while Ann Sheridan has a bad-woman role as a glamorous saloon tirl. Bruce Cabot, Frank McHugh and Alan Hale head an imposing supporting ;a*t.
