DOMINION BABY CONTEST.
ST. JOHX AMBULANCE CARNIVAL.
The plans of the St. John Ambulance organisation throughout New Zealand to raise £50,000 by means of a baby contest have been made public, and details for the Auckland section of this nation-wido contest were arranged at a meeting held in the Rutland Street headquarters last night. Sir R. Heaton Rhodes, Knight Commander of the Order of St. John, issued a statement appealing for support. Funds would be devoted to general purposes of the St. John Ambulance Association and Brigade, also the district nursing service.
Voting on the baby entrants will be registered at theatres in the various districts. Moving pielurcs will be taken and shown at those theatres. The Dominion has been divided into l!) districts. Prizes will bo awarded winners at each theatre, in each district, in both islands, and eventually in the. whole country. The national winner will receive a prize worth £300.
