JAP. "PEACE" OFFER.
TO CHINESE GENERALISSIMO. (Received 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, January 16. According to the Shanghai correspondent of the United Press, Wang Chingwei, head of the Chinese puppet Government, has telegraphed the Chinese Generalissimo, Chiang Kai-shek, offering to visit Chungking to negotiate peace on Japanese terms, and threatening, if refused, to negotiate for peace with a section of China, leaving the Japanese to subdue Chiang Kai-shek in the hinterland.
