U.S. REJECTS PROTEST.
Says Nq Discrimination Against British Ships. ALL TREATED ALIKE, (Received 1 p.m.) NEW YORK, January 10. The State Department reveal***? tliat tlie United States on Friday rejected the British protest that the American Neutrality Aet discriminates against British ship*. The United States replied that American vessels do nut receive preferential treatment over other neutral-, and the transfer requirement applies lo ail belligerents alike. A Rio de Janeiro message savs it is reliably stated that the British rcplv to the Pan-American protest lodged" on December 23 against violation "of the neutrality zone suggests enforcement of tlie zone by new methods. The British express sympathy with the principle of the zone, but term it unenforceable as at present constituted.
