PATRIOTIC FUND DONATIONS.

(To the Editor.) Recently the members of a small Mmt club in which I am interested dedfci to make a special levy on all mmU attending the club's functions, the exb% money to be given as a donation to tfc National Patriotic Fund. The Tmiijm were later informed that this fw inline was not permissible and was definitely an infringement of the law, at neat legislation passed by the Government made it an offence to gather fand* in this way. Whoever heard of sack nonsense in this time of stress. There aw hundreds of women who themserres ojbnot give large cash donations but VBO could, with the help of other women, arrange functions, large and anal], whereby substantial sums of money •would be added to the fund. At present we are hedged in by Government regal*. tions and cannot -move in any direction. Let the Government stand aside and let the women work in ways peculiar to themselves, as they did during the last war, and the money will flow in. No progress will l>c made under present conditions.
