CHEAPER CAR DRIVING.

BUT SrEED IS LESS

SYDNEY, January 11

"Since T converted this car to charcoal burning four months ago it has done 7000 miles."

Air. Kelvin E. Anderson, of Parkes, said this yesterday in Martin Place. He had just stopped bis charcoal gas car.

"I've done nothing but answer questions since I converted the car," Mr. Anderson said as a crowd began to collect.

"Whenever I stop in a strange place I just sit back and wait for the questions to start."

In answer to questions, he said: — "My car will do 75 miles on a threebushel bag of charcoal, costing 1/3.

"The 240 miles trip from Parkes cost me about 4/ iu fuel, against 30/ in petrol.

"Maximum speed on charcoal is 50 m.p.h., which is 10 less than on petrol.

"The car has two throttles and two accelerators—one for petrol, one for charcoal, cither of which may be used as fuel."
