WELLINGTON, this day.

Auckland won the second Sanders Cup race by a minute from Canterbury, with Southland third, Wellington fourth and Otago fifth. Points gained in the two races are: Auckland 46, Canterbury 46, Southland 14, Otago 4, Wellington 4. This morning's race was sailed over a triangular course, three times round, in a moderate south-easterly breeze. Canterbury and Southland carried three men and the others four. Over-eagerness caused Auckland to beat the gun, and the boat was recalled. They were then the last to cross the starting line, but by the end of the first leg they were leading Wellington, Southland, Canterbury and Otago. The last-named boat had set her spinnaker at the start, but had trouble with it and lost time, which she never made up. Times at the end of the first lap were:—Auckland 30m 20s, Canterbury 30m 50s, Southland 31m 12s, Wellington 31m 245, Otago 32m-50s. The positions were unchanged to the end of the race, and the times at the end of the second lap were: —Auckland 58m 20s, Canterbury 59m 14s, Southland 55) m 365, Wellington 60m 18s, Otago 62 m 9s. The finishing times were:—Auckland lh 28in 425, Canterbury lh 29m 425, Southland lh 30m 38s, Wellington lh 32m 4s, Otago lh 34m 435. The next race is to be sailed this afternoon. The second race in the Tauranga class was won by Wellington, wtih Nelson second and Tauranga third.
