WINS FIRST RINKS GAMES. LIVINGSTONE'S TWO DEFEATS. (By to " Star.!') ' WELLINGTON, Friday. The first two rounds of section play in the New Zealand Centennial rinks bowling championship were decided to-daj r . The 1930 champions, C. F. Robertson, IT. Franks, J. F. Benson and W. C. Franks (Balmoral) are not defending their title. The principal feature, as far as Auckland is concerned, was the success of the West End" skip, W. Bremner (the only Auckland survivor in the pairs championship), who won both his games. Or the skips of other previous clianipion rinks, L. M. Naylor (Hataitai) and R. N. Tilkington (Hamilton) each won both of to-day's rounds, while R. Haworth (Canterbtirv). A. H. Benefield (St. Johns), J. Porteous (Wellington), H. Wilson (Lm : wood) and G. A. Deare (Carlton) eacn suffered one defeat. Haworth lost his nist game to Smith (Thorndon), 2o 21, Benefield went down in the second round i.o ]3iielmn (Epsom), 28—25, Porteous was vanquished in" the first round by Giles (United, Cliristclmrcli). 23-23, Wilson lost his second game tcNaylor, 27 19, and Deare was defeated in his second, game bv Douglass (West End, New Plymouth), 2(1—17.

C. Spearman (Sydenham). former Dominion singles champion, P. Miinn (Canterbury), who was third player for Haworth on two occasions when Haworth won the Dominion rinks, and the consistent Lyall Bay player, J. B. Reid, who ;s doing so well in the pail's event, each scored double victories. The former Dominion singles champion, F.
