GERMAN FOOD STBAMBR SUNK,

LONDON, January 11. Forty seamen were landed on the west coast after their ship had sunk rts the result of a collision with two other steamers.
One vessel, believed to be Italian, struck a mine 011 the east coast.
A Copenhagen cable states that a trawler rescued (52 of the crew when the Bahirt Mlanea sank north-west of Iceland, presumably after hitting an iceberg. The Bahia Blanea. which was attempting to run' the blockade, had been previously erroneously reported to have been captured by a cruiser.
The German steamer Axel (343 tons), laden with food, sank after a collision with a patrol ship near Kiel. I'lie crew Was saved.
The British steamer Rothesay Castle (7010 tons), which ran on to rocks on the west coast of Scotland, broke her back «ud is a total loss. She was laden With food from New York.
25,000 KILLED. TURKISH QUAKES DEATH TOLL (Received 1 p.m.) ISTANBUL, .January 11. The official estimate of earthquake victims is:— 25,000 killed. 80,000 injured. 30,000 homes destroyed. As a token of the deep sympathy of the Government and the peoples of India in the terrible calamity that has overtaken Turkey, the Government of India presented 1000 tents to the Turkish Government for help for victims of the earthquake, says a British official wireless message. The tents are being shipped immediately to Egypt, for onward transmission, according to the wishes of the Turkish Government.
