OHOPE BEACH FIRE.
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
WHAKATANE, Thursday.
The prompt action of a small army of Arc-fighters prevented the complete destruction of a four-roomed wooden lions* at Ohope Beach. The house was empty at the time, the occupiers, Traffic Inspector G. H. Delves and Mrs. Delve®, having left for Whakatane barely 20 minutes before the outbreak. The kitchen, in which the fire started, waa gutted, but apart from smoke and water stains there was little other damage.
