WOMEN'S INSTITUTES.
Matamata.—The January meeting of the Matamata Women's Institute was held in St. Andrew's Hall, Mrs. Stewart presiding. The competition arranged by Mrs. K. Hawes was won by Sire. R. White. An intelligence test arranged by Mrs. Taylor was won by Mrs. Barry. Points competitions were as follows:— Button-hole, Mrs. Taylor i, Mrs. R. Hawes 2; vegetables, Mrs. Elery 1, Mrs. Stewart 2j scones, Mrs. Elery 1 Mrs. Crabb 2.
