"It has been my practice to impose sentences "of imprisonment in cases of this nature, but I am going to take into consideration that the degree of intoxication in your case was only slight, and the circumstances, perhaps, were a little unusual." Addressing Ernest Clinton Bevington, 26, motor body builder, of Whangarei, who pleaded guilty in the Whangarei Court this morning to a charge of being in charge of a motor car on the Port Whangarei road while in a rtate of intoxication, in these terms, the magistrate, Mr. R. Ferner, S.M., convicted him and fined him £10, together with costs and doctor's fees of £1 1/. Suspension of Bevington's license for 12 months was ordered and time was allowed for payment of the fine.
