BOXING DAY FIGURES.
INCREASE AT EIXERSLIE.
Well over a quarter of a million pounds was invested on the totalizators at the nine racing meetings held ill the Dominion yesterday. The exact amount wae £289,181, but it was £1398 less than invested on the totalisator on Boxing Dav twelve months back.
All told there were eix meetings for gallopers and three for trotting horses yesterday, and at two only were increases shown over the. corresponding day last year. These increases were recorded at Ellerslie and at Hastings. At Ellerslie the investments reached £131.054, which was £1C.928 more than on Cup Day twelve months ago. At Haetinge, where the Waipukurau Kaciug Club held a meeting, the increase was £3229. The largest decrease was recorded at Ashburton, where wet weather was responsible.
