The Admiralty states that 10 British ships, totalling 6581 tons, and eight neutrals, totalling 10,839 tons, were sunk last week. The total tonnage of 17.420, compared with the German loss of 32,0tt0 tons by the scuttling of the liner Columbus last Wednesday, shows an excess of the German loss of 15,145 tons. The Xorwegian steamer Rudolf (924 tons) struck a mine and sank in the North Sea. The master and seven of the crew have been landed, and six others are still afloat in a boat. The Danish steamer Jaegersborg (1254 tons) was sunk, and the crew of 18 is missing. The Italian steamer Comitas (3685 tons), which struck a mine in the North Sea and was towed to Flushing. Holland, has been beached, seriously damaged amidships. It is feared she will be a total loss. A Berlin war communique says: "British and neutral shipping which ventured into the danger zone yesterday suffered heavy losses, amounting to 11 ships, eight of which were British. The total tonnage involved was about 51,500." A message from Amsterdam says the German liner Stassfurt (7395 tons) has been sequestrated at Tjilitjap, Java, owing to a British oil company's claim.
