Stalin, acknowledging birthday congratulations, in a message to von Bibbentrop, Nazi Foreign Minister, said: "I see every reason for the friendship of the peoples of Germany and Russia, which has been cemented by blood, being lasting and firm." In a message to Hitler, Stalin said: "Accept my appreciation for your congratulations and gratitude for your good wishes for the Soviet people." * Stalin also sent messages to Dr. Tiso. President of Slovakia; M. Saracoglu, Turkish Foreign Minister; and M. Kuusinen, leader of the Red Finnish Government, who had hither been reported to have been arrested. To the latter, Stalin "F wish the Finnish people an early and complete victory over their oppressors, the Mannerheim-Tanncr gang." Stalin sent a message to the Chinese Generalissimo, Marshal Chiang Kai-shek, for whom he wished a complete victory over the enemies of China.
