PARIS, December 22.

The bridge of St. Louis, linking St. Louis and the City Island in the River Seine, collapsed, and a number of cars and pedestrians plunged into the river. The bridge disappeared. Seven people were recovered from the river, but two died and 13 are missing.

The collapse was due to the impact of the steel barge Tunisie, the captain of which was seriously injured. Two broken gas pipes caused an explosion.
