The second appraisement of wool in -Auckland under the Government purchase scheme will be held next week, starting on Wednesday. The date has been brought forward from January 22 in order to tike advantage of extra shipping space available f? J .V- 4 , wc>ol transported to the l_ ni tea .Kingdom, where supplies are urgently needed. r Wool has been pouring into the Parnell stores since the first offering was appraised in November, when about 23,500 bales were appraised and taken over by the Government. For next week's there should be close on M,OOO bales ready, and on prompt date, a rortnight after the completion of the appraisement, Auckland eheepfarmers should receive cheques approaching in value those they were sent earlier this which aggregated something like £ 360,000. Scale of Values Fixed. Regulations governing the appraisement recently gazetted state that values will be faxed on the following scale:--Super to Average to Average Inferior d d d d ?/°rj. no 17 to 138 m to 83 Halfbred 18 to 13J 13 to 111 Fine crossbred . 15J to 13J 13 to 10J Medium crossbred 14J to llj 11 to 10 Coarse crossbred 13} to 11 10J to 91 These rates are subject to variations on account of the yield, handle, tenderness, manner of skirting, amount of seed content, and all other factors affecting the appearance or condition of the wool. There is provision for appeal against an appraisement. the appeal fee being fixed at 2/6 a bale, with a minimum fee of £2. In addition a broker may charge an owner reasonable costs for preparing wool for reappraisement. The decision of the deputy-controlling appraiser or of the controlling appraiser shall be final.
