WAITEMATA CLUB. OLD MEMBERS PLEDGE SUPPORT. Despite the stormy weather conditions on Saturday there was n large attendance of post nnd present members and supporters at the official opening of the Waiteinnta Heating Club. The function held in the boathouse. Tamaki Drive, took the form of "Old Members' Day." nnd gave many of the present, day members the opportunity of coming in contact with the stalwarts of whom they had heard so much and to hear in their reminiscences the wonderful history associated with the old club. Mr. <!. H. Iteston. commodore, stated that during the last war. 1014-18, nil members on active Service were kept on the financial list, and he trusted the same action would be taken this time. He appealed to all old members to act as sponsors to one or more members until demobilisation. He felt this would appeal to tiicm as giving a direct interest In present-day members, and would also uphold the true tradition of the Wniteuiata Club. Mr. W. Madden. a veteran member. Immediately stepped forward and on behalf of old members, assured the commodore thnt It would be done. Among the veterans present were; J. Collins. 1887 (champion whaleboat crew), R. Wylie. 1803. Then followed W. Madden, 8. Payne, W. Westray, J. Magee, T. Buckler, D, Hadfield.
