MEMORABLE CONCERT.

AUCKLAND JUVENILE CHOIR. Assisted by the Auckland Ladies' Choir, the Auckland Juvenile Choir presented in the Lewis Eady Hall last evening a programme of choral nnmbere which showed unmistakesijle evidences of thorough and painstaking rehearsal. Some features of their singing might with advantage be copied by many adult chows. These young people memorise the whole of tne programme, words and music, and thus are free to "watch intently every di-rection of their conductor, Miss Ida Holmes, who thereby is ahle to obtain from them a wide 'range of expression. Most com-' mendnble, too, was their clear cut diction and phrasing. i The juvenile* sang in two parts "j 1 *" ing Song,"' ••Welcome To May, ' May bell and the Flowers."' and, witih the Ladiesi Choir. "Shepherds Dance" (German), and •II Bacio'' (Arditi). The Ladies Choir was heard in Hatton's- part song ' Fall the Shades of Evening,' "I Wanderefl Lonely as a Cloud" (Thiman), "It «as a lyover and His Lass (German), and Tlje Apple Tree Fairy" (Phillips I. The juvenile soloists were Allan Saunderb. Eileen Kainey, lan Butter worth. and Ronald Jones, all of whom sang well and without apparent nervousness, their performances .receiving much applause. Miss -Molly Holding. of the Ladies Choir. sang Schumann's "The Almond Tree." Instrumental relief was provided bv Mesdames Phyllis Bloy and Evelyn p.rime, who deftly synchronised in two piano duos, "Duettino Coneertante (Busoni after Mozart), and Rondo in C Major" (Chopin). Mrs. Roger Erringiton was a most efficient accompanist. _ At the conclusion of the concert, the profits from which go to the Red Cross Society. Miss Ida Holmes was presented with a bouquet by Mrs. Heath-Preeet on behalf of the society.
