"Destroy Everything!" Hitler Orders Airmen

(United Press Association.—Copyright.— Reed. 11 a.m.) LONDON, September 15. A Polish communique from Warsaw states that the German bombardment of open towns has assumed the character of the systematic destruction of all built-up areas and cities not connected with military objectives. The Germans bombing of all towns and villages in southern and central Poland presents a terrible picture," declared a dramatic broadcast from the Lwow radio. Herr Hitler," it added, "has given the order: 'Destroy everything you meet in your way!" It is being executed to the letter. Siedlce, which had a population of 37,000, is almost completely destroyed. Lublin is afire. German airmen shoot Polish flyers escaping in parachutes .om their damaged machines. These methods have not succeeded in conquering Poland s spirit of resistance. 20,000 Civilians Killed. 'Germany's air raids have killed 20,000 civilians, which exceeds the number of military casualties. The towns destroyed include Czestochowa.** The Diplomatic Corps, including the Papal Nuncio, after inspecting the effects of the bombing of the open town of Krzemieniec, Poland's third proviisonal capital (after Warsaw and Lublin), decided to ask their Governments to protest to Berlin.
