The State Department has issued export figures for August revealing the extent to which Britain and France have suffered by the imposition of arms embargoes. France obtained licenses since January 1 totalling 72.363,000,000 dollars, actual exports amounting to 1.i.Gfi1,000,000 dollars. Britain obtained licences for 14,70!),000,000 dollars. Actual exports were 21,159.000,000 dollars, but virtually all of Britain's exports were licensed last year. August licenses for France were 1,132,000,000 dollars: Britain. 321,000 dollars; Canada. 132,000 dollars; and Australia. 100,000 dollar*.
