RED CROSS SOCIETY.
BRANCH AT SWANSON.
A well-attended meeting was held in the Swanson Hall for the purpose of forming a Red Cross branch. Mr. I. Bridger, director-general of the NewZealand Red Cross Society, gave a talk on the work of the Red Cross, stressing the international character and spirit o"f the .society. After the talk a branch was formed by the women of the district, with committee as follows: President, Mrs. Winter; vice-president, Mrs. P. Close; secretary, Mrs. Cochrane; committee, Mesdames W. Taylor, Allison. Campbell, Kay, Rintz, Smith, G. Allison, Misses Freeman and Guy.
