THREE PETITIONS.

UNDEFENDED DIVORCES.

DECREES NISI GRANTED

Three undefended divorce petitions were heard before Mr. Justice Callan in the Supreme Court to-day. After five years' marriage they agreed to separate, and did so in November, 1930, said Inez Izola Burgess (air. Nutsford), in giving evidence supporting a petition for divorce from Alfred Burgess. Petitioner said that on account of her husband molesting her she had to get another deed of separation signed. That was in February of this year. A few months later she found out that her husband was living with another woman in a flat in Victoria Street, and when the papers relating to the present proceedings were served on him there he was in company with that woman.

Evidence was given by Wa.iheke Puha that he let a flat in his house, and that for two or three months the flat was occupied by Alfred Burgess and a woman who lived with him as his wife, but who was not the previous witness. A decree nisi was granted. WIFE LEFT HOME. After six years of married life she got into the habit of staying more with her relations than at "home, stated Charlie John Emmerton (Mr. Robinson) in petitioning for divorce from Melvina Evelyn Emmerton. Petitioner added that his wife complained that they were unsuited to each other, and eventually in June, 1936, she left l.ome without notice, and he could not get in touch with her for two years. He eventually got a letter in response to one by hjm urging her to come back.

After having heard evidence supporting petitioner's statement that his wife had not been with him since June, 1930, his Honor granted a decree nisi, commenting that judging by the tone of the wife's letter to her husband it was unlikely that she would seek maintenance, or that she would get much sympathy if she did. FAILURE TO COMPLY. Failure by the wife to comply with a decree for restitution of conjugal rights, granted in December, 1938, was the ground on which Alfred Thexton (Mr. Robinson) souiht dissolution of his marriage with Katie Jean Thexton. A decree niei of divorce was granted.
