PRICE CONTROL.

FAT STOCK MARKET.

BLOW FOR AUCTIONEERS.

REFUND ON" PAST SALES ?

The official announcement that fat

stock prices rilling on September 1 must not be exceeded has come a*, a blow to auctioneering firms. It is not known how the selling system at the numerous sales held each week throughout the Auckland Province can be adjusted to meet this regulation, which was announced this morning by Mr. F. R. J'icot. controller .if foodstuffs.

I nofficial advice has been received that the new lobulation also requires that refunds be made <111 all realisations above those ruling 011 September 1, but Auckland state that thev have not as yet received such advice. As prices have risen as much as 40/ per head for fat cattle since that date, thi> would mean a refund to butchers on the transactions made on the Westfield market at held 011 .September 13 and September tl, and a debit against farmers 011 whose account the stock was <so]d. It would mean a preat amount of work for the selling agents. 0
