OBITUARY.
MR, JOHN CAMPBELL PEACOCK.
Mr. John Campbell Peacock, who died from injuries caused by a motoring accident in Wellington on Saturday
evening, as reported on another page, was the youngest son of the late Mr. Thomas Peacoek, founder of the firm of T. Peacock and Son, Queen Street, Auckland. He was educated at the Auckland Grammar School and studied for his law examinations at the Auckland University College. He joined the firm of Russell and Campbell and subsequently practised liis profession in Whangarei. Later he wont to Wellington to join his uncle, the late Mr. J. P. Campbell. Since the latter's death the firm has been carried on under the name of Hadfield, Peacock and Tripe. Mr. Peacock was particularly wellknown in tenuis circles. He was New Zealand singles champion in 1901 and 1910 and won the New Zealand doubles championship six times—four times with F. M. B. Fisher and once with H. A. Parker and Xoel Wilson respectively. He represented Xew Zealand in the Davis Cup contest in May, 1924, when, with F. M. B. Fisher, lie played at Prague against Czechoslovakia. This was the first occasion 011 which Xew Zealand entered for the Davis Cup as a separate nation. Mr. Peacock was a member of the Heretaunga Golf Club and was returning to Wellington when the accident happened. He is survived by his wife, one son. Mr. R. T. Peacock, LT..8.. and one daughter Miss Margot Peacock.
