ALLEGATION AGAINST M.P.
(From Our Cor-esponrlent.)
OPOTIKI, Saturday
An allegation that the member of Parliament for the district, Mr. A. O. Hultquist, had tried to upset a recent public meeting held in Opotiki was made by Mr. R. Hedley at a meeting of the Opotiki County Council.
A letter was received from the actingPrime Minister, the Hon. P. Frasor, stating that a message had been cjiven to Mr. Hultquist to be present at the meeting, but he had stated that he had no opportunity of doing so. The council passed a resolution upholding the action of Mr. W. A. Gault, in view of the fact that Mr. Hultquist was allegedly withholding the information given to him by the acting-Prime Minister. The council also decided to write to Mr. Fraser asking him to instruct the member to give the information to the council.
