ATHENIAN CLUB.
A SERVICE NIGHT.
Keeping abreast of the times the pre■sentaiion of the Athenian Club on Saturday night was entitled "A Service I Night. tile host and Imi-uvs iK'ing .Mr. and Mrs. Edward New ling, whose endeavour was to portray the lighter side of military life. The venue as usual was the Auckland Operatic Society's rooms. <• raft on Road, which was filled with nu'inlxMs and frit»inls. The opening sketch entitled "A Disorderly Room." was arranged with special orchestration, ami was enthusiastically received, the players being; Messrs. E. Xewling. .1. K. Anderson. T. Dunn. L. Salter. I*. Franehi and H. W ilkins. Ihe artists contributing to the remainder of an enjovable programme were: I'iano solo. Dorotliv Franchi; vocal. Mrs. Nig,.] White and Mr. Sam Duncan; novelty instrumental. Mr. Erie Wilton; humour, Mr. Tom Dunn. Mis< KJva ( arr wa.s the accompanist. Old melodies and stirring military marches were supplied for the dances, and favours were given to the audience.
During the evening tin- president. Ml'. C. K. Anderson suitably welcomed visiting representations from the Dunedin and Philistine Clubs.
