RATION CARDS.
FOR PRIVATE MOTORISTS.
NUMBER SYSTEM ADOPTED.
Conditions under which the Government's revised petrol rationing scheme will operate were announced this afternoon. The«e are in connection with the decision to allow a limited supply for tile use of private motorists. Ration cards in sheets numbered from 1 to 48 will be issued. Each month the Oot'ernmeut will announce the serial numbers available for use in obtaining petrol (supplies. For example, it may be announced that for the remainder of September Xos. 1, 2 and 3 may bp used. For October, it may be the mitnbcm 4 to 8. Each number represents two gallons of petrol.
Xo application forms will be necessary. Each motorist must call, however. at tile post office at which his car is registered, to obtain ration curds.
