(Received 10 a.m.)
LOXDOX, September 5.
Mr. Chamberlain telegraphed to M. "Our hopes for peace which we liavj sought so strenuously to preserve have been shattered by a wanton attack on Poland. Now side by side we both take up arms with the sure knowledge that no nations ever entered war in a more just cause. I am confident that the sacrifices which we are prepared to make wijl not be in vain, and will prevail." p
__M. Daladier, in a message to the King, said: "The British people are Preparing, as they did 2;j years ago in the reign of your august father, to engage with the French people in a noble undertaking to resist one of the most hateful acts of aggression recorded in history. The ideal inspiring France and Britain, and their confidence in the strength of their union, will make them invincible."
M. Daladier, thanking Mr. Chamberlain for his moving message, says: "Our two nations know they have done everything to preserve peace. They are resolved after the brutal and unjust aggression, of which Poland is a victim, to associate their efforts fraternally until victory is theirs."
