Alfred Buckland and Sons, Ltd. Beef.—We penned fat cattle to the number of 231 head, comprising 98 steers and 133 cows and heifers, against 320 head last week. Our ox yarding was the best quality lot we have penned for some time, and selling under a keen demand realised prices which showed a further rise. A small offering of cows and heifers also showed improvement on late quotations. Extra choice ox sold to 43/ per 1001b; choice and prime ox, 40/ to 42/; ordinary and plain, 37/ to 39/; prime young cow and heifer beef, 38/ to 40/; ordinary cow beef. 31/ to 34/; extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £17 to £19; heavy prime steers, £15 to £16; lighter prime 6teers, £11 -15/ to £14 10/; light prime steers, £11 15/ to £12 15/; small and unfinished steers, £9 to £11; extra heavy priine_youne cows and heifers, £12 10/ to £14 7/6: heavy prime cows and heifers. £10 10/ to £11 10,'; liahter prime cows and heifers. £8 10/ to £9 10/; other killable cows, £5 to £7 10/.

Calves.—We bad an average yarding of calves, but Kood quality runners and vealers were again in very short supply. C ompetition for all prime calves was exceptionally keen, and values again showed a rise. Plain and unfinished calves sold readily at late quotations.
