MOUNT ROSKILL ROAD BOARD

The Mount Roskill Road Board met last night, Mr. C. M. McCullough presiding, finance.—l he general account was re1° h ,e »> credit £13,159 2/4, with 4.2000 at call.

X'nv Buildings.—The inspector reported 21 private .buildings in the course of election in the district and that 10 permits were issued during the past fortnight of a total value of £2088. in addition to a large nuimljer of State houses.

Emergency Precautions.—Mr. R. D. Baker, Onehunga borough engineer, it was reported, had been allocated by the Emergency Precautions Committee the area comprised in the districts of Mouni Roskill. One Tree Hill, Ellerslie and One hunga. He asked the 'board's assistance in advising waterworks stocks and fillings, etc . available. A committee was reputed to deal with this request and report to the board.

Public Works Programme.—The clerk reported expenditure to date from the public works allocation as £"2600. In addition, he said, other items would have to lie earmarked, making a total of £4458. Ihe works committee recommended certain works for the board's approval in relation to the listed works from which selections are to be made.

Water Charges.—The State Advances Corporation intimated its intention to pay only for water used by the tenants anil asked to be furnished with half-yearly instead of quarterly water accounts.

Driver s licenses.—These were reported to total 1724. as compared with 1515 for the same period last year.

Vehicular Crossings.—When a report was received from the inspector with regard to the construction of vehicular crossings by property owners it was referred to the works committee to consider a previous resolution on the matter and bring down a report. "

The fortnightly meeting of the Papatoetoe 1 own Board was held last night When the chairman, Mr. L. Kendall, presided. An apology for absence was rewsived from Air. VV. J. Nicholson.
