N.Z. CUP MEETING.
DERBY STAKES ONLY INCREASE. COMMITTEE'S DECISIONS. (By Telegraph.-—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. -With., the exception of, the New Zealand Derby, the prize money for which was increased from £1230 to £1500 .prior to the taking of nominations last June, the stakes to be distributed.' at; the Cup meeting in November will be the same as at last year's fixture. This was decided yesterday at a meeting of the committee of the Canterbury Jockey Clubi Brush hurdle races, which are usually held on the first and third days, will be replaced by ordinary panel hurdle races, i Weight* for the Stewards' Handicap will not be issued until after the second day of the Wellington Racing Club's meeting. The committee reserved the right to alter stakes or' conditions for any race on the programme up to the time of taking nominations. 'The question of providing for five shilling investors on the totalisator was discussed and held over. In view of the present world conditions it was decided not to hold the Jockey Club ball, which is usually held duriug November race week.
