DAIRY INDUSTRY.
AUSTRALIA'S NEW SEASON. Apart: from some spells of very cold weather, conditions in all States have continued m»t_ favourable for dairying (writes the National Bank of Australasia in its monthly review). Fodder is abundant throughout the Commonwealth, and the cattle are in unusually good condition for t'he time of year. In all States except Queensland the output of butter is on a higiher level than at this period last 3'ear, and in Victoria weekly gradings established a record for the beginning of August.
STUD SHEEP.
CONSIGNED TO SOUTH AFRICA.
One of the most comprehensive shipments of sheep ever made from New Zealand recently left for South Africa under arrangements made by the stud stock department of Dalgety and Company, Limited. The sheep are one and twoshear stud rams singly entered in the New Zeajnnd Stud Book, and are all drawn from the leading breeders in the Dominion.
The shipment comprises Border Leicesters, English Leicesters, Romney Marsh, Corriedaies and Southdowns, which have been obtained in both the North and South Islands. More Romney Marsh are included in the shipment than any one of the other breeds, and all are drawn from North Island dealers.
