Airam, who i« on the same mark, does not appeal. Gay Mimic, The Cardinal, Winsome Lu and Oold Ballad ttave 7.4. Gay Mimic ran some good races »P to a mile and three furlongs last season, while The Cardinal impressed by the manner in .which lie accounted for the Auckland Handicap, one mile, a t the recent Paktiranga meeting. Winsome Lu was successful up to a mile and a quarter and Gold Ballad up to seven furlongs last term. Some who may be in demand are: Lowenberg, Tidewaiter. Ned Cuttle. Black Mu «k, Jayola. Kena and The Cardinal. The Open Sprint. Majority is culled upon to give away considerable weight in the open sprint, the I* lying Handicap, for ho has been awarded P He won at Treiithani with 10.1, equal to !).! on the present scale, but latt r tailed at Riccnrton with 10.7. At Stratford at New Year time he won with 0.!) and 10.3 respectively, mo that he is not out of it. Francis Drake (8.13) has not raced for some time, but has been sprinting well at Ellerslie. Orate (8.7) is engaged in both the Cup and this event and he appeals most over the shorter distance. Royal Bachelor and Gold Vaals have 8.6 and the former is likely to have Wiost friends after his third to Majoritv and Prince Acre at Trentham, over six furlongs, and his second in the Jellieoe Handicap at Ellerslie, He has plenty of speed. Rovevrus (8.3) can also sprint well, being a good second to Beseige over seven furlongs at the last Waipa meeting at Te Awamlitu, when he carried 9.5. Kathbella. Valimeen and Prince Acre have 8.2 and all of them can go fact. Kathbella won the Mount Eden Handicap, sis furlongs, at the last Avondale meeting with 8.7, Valimeen, to whom she was conceding 151b, being second. However, since then the latter scored at Pukekohe with 7.5 and also at Te Rapa with 7.13, beating among others on the latter occasion Farland and Prince Acre. Prince Acre was Majority at Trentham last July. Aero King (7.13) put up his best performances in open company when he accounted for a division of the Stewards' Handicap, six furlongs, at Te Rapa in May, and the following month won the Visitors' Handicap, of similar distance, at Ellerslie, beating Royal Bachelor by a head. He would only need to be in the same form to have a good show. I'nlustre and Young Paddon are handicapped at 7.11. The latter was third in the Admiralty Handicap, six furlongs, at the Pakuranga meeting, while Palustre, who is a smart sprinter when at her best, has been -working well at Takanini. Bronwen (7.7), however, after her success in the Admiralty Handicap, wiil appeal more. Birthday Bov (7.4) was fourth in that event and To Monowai (7.1) second, and they are not without prospects. Of those on the minimum Blonde Princess, who won over six furlongs in hack company at Trentham in July, Fils de Vaals, Namara and La Vie seem the best. The favourites just now may be: Bronwen, Royal Bachelor. Te Monowai, Rovevrus, Kathbella and Birthday Boy.

The acceptances are due at 5 p.m. next Friday.
