PETROL SUPPLIES.
FOR PRIVATE CARS.
TO STOP TO-MORROW. RELAXATION POSSIBLE LATER. From midnight, to-morrow no oil fuel will bp supplied to private car owners as at that time the rationing scheme will come into full effect. The Postal Department, which is administering the regulations, statpd today that until then the two-gallon allowance for private cars must be given only where it appears that circumstances warrant the supply.
This provision is intended to prevent filling up of tanks by motorists by calls at different tilling stations.
It in'pointed out that as soon as it is determined what supplies can lie obtained from overseas to meet the Dominion's essential oil fuel needs some period ahead, the restrictions may be relaxed or lifted altogether.
ft in not intended to upset business and it is expected thnt applicants will not put in for greater quantities than they actually require. A check is to be made on a mileage basis and a declaration is necessary on such aspects as quantities in hand and average weekly consumption.
