Gregory, the Itotorua centre, has brought unexpected strength to Manukau. and has filled the big gap caused bv R. Chase dropping out «'l the game. Gregory's centre play was a great feature of a game 111 which all the Maiiukau Iwickri were seen at their best. The Manukau team has also lieen improved by the return of Watene to the side, and his leadership was invaluable Brodrick was another Manukau player to give n very dashing display. Although submerged in 'tlie second half I'apakura gave a good display of football in the first half, and led at half-time. Grav. the Australian, showed some of the best points of five-eighth play, and Melnnes was in tine form. The I'apakura forwards were even and sound, and Fogarty's display was quite up to representative' standard. For Manukau tries were scored bv Watene. Awhitu. Marsh. Brimhle. Hap'i Cregory and Wiberg, Nepia converting three.
Anderson and Mclnnes scored tries for I'apakura, Mcliinex converting two and kicking a penalty goal.
