PROVINCIAL FIXTURE.

AUCKLAND-WELLINGTON. REPRESENTATIVE MATCH. Comparisons of the relative standards of League football in Wellington and Auckland will be made on Saturday ait Carl aw Park, when the Auckland and Wellington representatives will meet. Reports from the south indicate that Wellington will send a good and wellbalanced team on tour, and their forwards should be up to the best standard. The backs are a young and fast lot, and will include Edie, who played in the trial matches at Auckland before the New Zealand team was cho6en. The forwards are heavy, with well-known players in Mustchin, H. Cootes, Herkt and Stanaway. The latter three previously played in Auckland club football. Stanaway will play at the back of the scrum, and will captain the visitors. Strong Side. The Auckland selectors, Messrs. H. W. Brisbane, H. Avery and E. W. Cloke have chosen a strong side from the players available. In selecting Dempsey, at full-back, the claims of a player who shows consistently good form have been recognised, although Glover, of Marist, or Mc-Lachlan, of Mount Albert, must hs.ve received consideration. There is plenty of pace Jn the threequarter line, with Nurse, of Ponsonby, and Hardgrave, of Mount Albert, on the wings, and a very capable centre in McKenzie, of Newton, to make openings for them. Donaldson is the best second fiveeighth in Auckland, and Graham, the young Richmond player, has maintained his place as first "five-eighth. The latter is very fast off the mark, and is a colt w-itli decided possibilities. Walker, Mount Albert, should satisfactorily fill the half-back position, as he has good defence, and gets his passes away well in attack. It is not difficult at the moment to pick six good forwards in Auckland. Flanagan, Of Ponsonby, is the hooker, and this season has proved the quickest at getting the ball from the set scrums. He will be partnered in the front row by Shadbolt, of Mount Albert, who has played consistently well all the season, and Broadhead, the heavy Richmond forward. Devine, of Richmond. Cameron, of Mount Albert, and Petersen, of Ponsonby, will complete the pack. Cameron is a solid, all-round player, but both Devine and Peteisen show up in loose play, being of the fast raiding kind, who can make play for their backs. Other Matches. The early match will be between Papakura, who defeated North Shore in the Roope Rooster competition last Saturday, and Manukau, the team which had the bye last Saturday. This match will be a semi-final. In the Phelan Shield competition the four teams which were defeated last Saturday will play. Ponsonby have been drawn to meet Newton, and City will plav Xorth Shore.
