SITTING OF AUTHORITY.

Consideration was. given by the No. I Transport Licensing Authority. Mr. E. J. Phelan, at a sitting yesterday to time-tables and routes in connection with a number of services operated by the Auckland Bus Company. This company recently took over the services to Titirangi and Laingholm, and after a trial period it was necessary for Mr. Phelan to review the position, and also investigate certain complaints lodged relating to the Oratia, New Lynn and Glen Eden services. At the sitting there was a ißi'ge attendance of representatives of the residents in tiie localities concerned.

Prior to the sitting the authority took the precaution of making a thorough investigation of the territory served by the buses, and at the outset of yesterday's deliberations he expressed the view that there was still need for a big improvement in roading conditions generally in order to afford tlio necessary facilities for tlio operation of buses of the tvpa nnd size used by the Auckland Bus Company. It was explained by several of those present that certain progress had been made in this direction, and it was hoped that a big improvement would be made in the roading conditions in the near future.

Every opportunity was given to the parties interested to air their views and to make any suggestions which might prove helpful in the future runnin? of the services. A very helpful spirit was displayed and at the conclusion of the sitting certain matters wore loft over with a view to having them finalised at a conference with Mr. Phelan to-morrow.
