Mr. Macgregor in moving the adoption of the report referred to the interest of the Royal Family in the society. He paid Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret Rose had both gained awards of the society during the year. Praise was due to the Auckland Primary Schools' Swimming and Life-Saving Association, in particular, the president stressed, the efficiency of teams from the Wellesley Street School, which had won the primary schools' life-saving championship. the judges reporting that the standard set by these teams was of the highest. The principal, Mr. B. M. Hayson, was deserving of congratulation. Excellent, work had been done by the combined swimming and life-saving committee in promoting the "learn-to-swim" campaign in the Auckland district. The president also expressed the centre's congratulations to the Newmarket Borough Council (or constructing an Olympic pool. Mr. T. C. Hobbs-Jones. the chairman of the combined committee, paid a tribute to the centre for the active part it had taken in the "learn-to-swim" campaign. The success of these was due in a large measure to its interest. An appeal for the society's support of the displays to be staged during the New Zealand Centennial Games was made by the , prephjent. It was hoped, he said, that thousands of representatives of recreational organisations would participate in the processions and mimetic displays. An account of the steps taken to introduce among the schools of the Dominion i the tyi>e of pool in use at the Cornwall Park School was given by Dr. T. H. Pettit.
