COMMITTEE'S DUTY.
Apprenticeship matters,
A jrn.«e ill which an employer in a painting and decorating business asked cancellation of an apprentice's contract because of colour-blindness came before the Arbitration Court recently and in a judgment issued to-day Mr. .T. A. Gilmour, S.M.. directed tiiat the matter be referred back to the Apprenticeship Committee for decision.
"It can readily be understood, of course, that some of the committee members are busy men who, for good cause, may be prevented on occasions from attending meetings,"' stated Mr. <;ilmnur. "but these committees have been entrusted with certain powers and functions and members should realise that it is desirable in the interests of the smooth working of the Act that a serious attempt be made to attend meetings regularly.
Mr. <;ilmour"s direction was that the committee meet again not later than September 2">.
