HUGE BONUS ISSUE. CAPITALISATION OF £4..459,790. SYDNEY, August 25. I'lie explanation of the steep rise in Broken Hill Proprietary shares to-dav "was found in an announcement from Melbourne of a bonus share issue involving capitalisation of £4,459,790, which represents the second largest made in Australia. The announcement was made at the annual meeting, and the issue will be in the proportion of about 64 shares to everv 100 held. Shareholders were taken by surprise, the impression being that the company would probably make a new issue of capital in view of its expanding activities.
