REFUGEES FROM EUROPE.
LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL VIEWS. (By Trlegrnpti.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. Subject to present conditions in Europe reaching ii peaceful settlement, the Government should admit European refugees to the Dominion and., in addition, should set up a Parliamentary committee to inquire into immigration, th» lion. T. Blood worth (Auckland) urged in the Legislative Council yesterday, lit' was supported by the Hon. \\. Terry (Wellington). The Hon. W. H. Mclntyro (Nelson) spoke against the proposal on the grounds that Central Europeans would not. make suitable immigrants, and that if immigrants were needed they should be drawn from the unemployed in Britain or from the Scandinavian cot i r» 1 ries. The debate was adjourned.-
