MOTOR CYCLE NOTES.
AUCKLAND CLUB
All motor cyclist* are advised that the Auckland Olub will be holding the annual competition for the Ixion Cup on Sun- „ y "ext. This cup was presented 'by , r * George Brunton in 1933, and was won last year by Arthur Beataon, of Pukekohe. • i *** year will be a short tub, including at' least ten observed sections. A good way for any rider to get practice tor a trial of this nature is to obtain, several dozen wooden .blocks at least an inch thick, and place them haphazard on. the ground, chalk a course through them and then rry to follow that course in low gear. This is a stunt which will give invaluable practice to any new rider, as constant practice should give him the feeling of being a part of the machine, .and it is only when he has that feeling that h . e ... can have Perfect confidence in his ability to safely ride his machine. The new members who 'have joined the club fch is season are improving very rapidly in their skill in negotiating observed sections, and several of them have every chance of winning the event on Sunday. However, the rules are so simple and straight-forward that a newcomer might start and easily win the event. There will be a trophy for the best performance 'bv a novice in this event, and is open to. all comers. The start will l>e from the club looms, opposite the Town Hall, at 10 I a.m. sharp. Olub members will be glad to hear that at the A.C.U. conference at Marton Mr. I C. Allen, the club delegate, was ejected | president of t'he New Zealand Auto Cycle Lnion. *
