OBITUARY.

CAPTAIN W. SHILLING. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. The death has occurred of Captain William Shilling, aged 90. For many years Captain Shilling was a pilot in the service of the Wellington Harbour Board. MRS. F. E. R. SMALE. The death has 'occurred of Mrs. Frances E. R. Smale, aged 87, who was a resident of Nortlicote for nearly fort}' years, and subsequently lived in Reir.uera and St. Helier's.* Mrs. Smale came to New Zealand from Cornwall 57 years ago, arriving in the sailing ship Weathersfield. She is survived by her husband, Mr. James Smale, two sons and four daughters. MR. W. A. SOMERVELL. A well-known sportsman, Mr. W. A. Somervell died in Auckland after a long illness. Mr. Somervell was born at the Thames 64 years ago and came to Auckland in his 'teens. He was a keen cricketer and was a foundation and life member of the Eden Crieket Club He was associated with the late E. C. Beale in forming the Eden Cricket ground, and was one of the original trustees. He was also a playing member of the Newton Rugby football team. Another sport he took a great interest in was bowling. He was a member of the Ellerslie and Carlton clubs. Besides his wife, two sons, Messrs. W. J. and H. J. Somervell, survive him.
