CLUB GAMES TO CONTINUE.

NO SOUTHERN TRIP.

LEAGUE DECISIONS.

MATCHES FOR NEXT SATURDAY

A decision to continue tlie playing of t'he senior championship for a further two Saturdays was made by the Auckland Rugtby League Control Board last evening. A deputation from the Clubs Officers' Association urged the continuance, stressing the keen competition that existed for second place.

The Roope Rooster knock-out competition will commence on Saturday week.

Phe proposal to send an Auckland representative team on a South Island tour was albandoned. The discussion was taken in committee, and Mr. Campbell stated later ■Chat it was regrettable a suitable team could not be got together.

It was decided to invite a Wellington team to play a match at Carlaw Park a.t a later date in the season.

Ilie question of the powers of a referee in calling off a match at Grey Lynn Park which he considered unfit to play on, was discussed for some rime. Mr. E. Chapman, chairman of the junior board, said a rule was passed to the effect That, where the captains of the two teams agreed, a match should be played. It was unfortunate, if the referees stood firmly bv the laws of the game, that matches could be held up indefinitely, arid the junior competitions woulu never be finished in a rainy season.

Mr. Campbell said the referees were vvitihin their l ights to consider the state of the grounds, but ho the opinion that common senise judgment should be used in the matter if the captains agreed that the conditions warranted piny being continued. It was eventually agreed to take the matter up with the Referees' Association for a more satisfactory arrangement. Saturday's Fixtures. The championship has been won by Mount Albeit, and the team in second position ait tihe moment* is Xorth Shore, with a lead of two points from Xewton. Two points further behind Poneon.by and Manukau are level. A win for Xorth Shore on Saturday would make thein the runners-up for the season.

The principal match on Saturday .will ■be between Xewton and Manukau, and a bright and open exposition pf the code is expected, as bath teams are capable of playing good football. 'Pile early match on the Xo. 1 ground will be between North Shore and Papakura, and although the former may be most fancied Papakura will put a reinforced team in t'he field for the occasion, and expect to make a clone game of it.

On the Xo. 2 ground Mount Albert, the champion team, will play City, and the former are expected to win.
