PALMERSTON NORTH, this day;

A slip which fell at 11.30 this morning blocked the Manawatu Gorge highway at a point where a similar blockage occurred recently. Just as a bus was passing along the narrow track the slip opened up and burst out. The vehicle was partially engulfed, but no one was .injured.

Strenuous work was necessary to extricate the bus. In the meanwhile it was reported that a big slip had come down on Siberia Road, on the southern nide of the Manawatu River, between Aokautere and the gorge. The slip is stated to be right across the road to a height of 6ft. *

Heavy rain fell in Palmerston North overnight and continued to-day, The country is waterlogged and all outdoor farm work is at a standstill.
