SYDNEY, this day.

The visiting baritone, Lord Lurgan, announced his intention of devoting the whole of the proceeds of his broadcast and other concerts in Australia to a memorial to the late Dame Nellie Melba.

Lord Lurgan said that he had known Dame Melba from childhood and that she gave him a good start when he took up singing professionally. She was a great friend of his grandparents, Lord and Lady Cadogan.

The Melba Memorial will be erected in Sydney.
