NORTHCOTE VEHICULAR SERVICE.

Under tie nom de plume I wrote regarding the above subject. Mr. Darlow has made a statement to the effect that it is not only Xorthcote and Birkenhead residents who use the vehicular ferries, and I am in Ml agreement with him there; as a matter of fact, in my last letter I suggested that tie Harbour Board take a consensus of opinion of users as to which they would prefer. Mf. Darlow has accused us of being parochial (there have 'been more letters than mine), but if a person is not allowed to defend his own parish against encroachment, we should fill the world with dictators and let them do jttt as they like. Regarding _his points of COBeideration, the first was dealt with in latfc night's "Star" by "Xorthcote Councillor." The second—well, the councillor quashed the first part of it; regarding tihe second part of it (the accident referred to), ean Mr. Darlow say the accident occurred through Northcote having a vehicular landing? The accident occurred at 8.50 within one mile of the wharf, and the next boat was due to leave at 9.30, so it could hardly have been due to rushing for the boat. Regarding tie third point—well, I think the Xorthcote residents should be left to say that themselves. H. BARTSS*.
